Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an ASRS system cost?
Project costs depend on warehouse size, throughput requirements, SKU profile, and the type of automation selected. A small goods-to-person system for a 5,000 sqm facility might start around $300,000–$500,000, while a large-scale multi-robot deployment for a 20,000+ sqm distribution center can range from $1M–$5M+.
We provide a detailed cost breakdown after the initial assessment — including hardware, software, installation, and integration. Most of our clients see full ROI within 2–4 years through labor savings, space optimization, and error reduction. See how ASRS compares to traditional warehousing costs.
What is the typical timeline from first contact to go-live?
A typical project follows this timeline:
Weeks 1–3: Initial consultation, site data collection, and requirements analysis.
Weeks 4–8: System design, 3D layout, simulation, and proposal delivery.
Weeks 9–20: Manufacturing, software configuration, and factory acceptance testing.
Weeks 21–26: Shipping, on-site installation, commissioning, and operator training.
Total timeline is usually 4–6 months for standard projects. Complex or large-scale deployments may take 6–9 months. We work with your operational schedule to minimize disruption — phased rollouts are common for facilities that need to stay operational during installation.
Which type of ASRS is right for my warehouse?
Bin Robots (goods-to-person): Ideal for small-to-medium items stored in totes — e-commerce, electronics, pharmaceuticals. High pick rates (200–300+ lines/hour per station) with dense vertical storage.
Pallet Shuttle / AGV systems: Best for bulk storage and pallet-level operations — manufacturing, food & beverage, cold storage.
Composite AGVs: Combine transport and picking in one platform — great for mixed workflows where flexibility matters.
Picking Robots: Purpose-built for high-speed piece picking in fulfillment centers.
We help you choose during the assessment phase. Our team analyzes your order data, SKU dimensions, and growth plans to recommend the right combination. Learn more about ASRS types.
Can your system integrate with our existing WMS or ERP?
Yes. Our Warehouse Control System (WCS) sits between your existing WMS/ERP and the physical automation layer. We support standard integration protocols including REST APIs, WebSocket, and database-level connectors. We have proven integrations with SAP, Oracle WMS, Manhattan Associates, Blue Yonder, and many regional WMS platforms.
For custom or in-house WMS, our engineering team works with your IT department to define the interface specification and complete integration testing before go-live. The typical integration scope covers inbound/outbound order sync, inventory updates, task dispatching, and reporting. Integration is included in our standard project scope — no hidden fees.
Is there a minimum project size or order quantity?
We work with projects of all scales. Our smallest deployments serve warehouses as compact as 500 sqm with 5–10 robots, while our largest projects cover 50,000+ sqm facilities with hundreds of robots operating simultaneously.
There is no strict minimum order quantity. If your operation processes at least 500–1,000 order lines per day and you are facing labor, space, or accuracy challenges, automation likely makes economic sense. We will tell you honestly during the assessment if your current volume does not yet justify the investment — and what thresholds to watch for. Browse projects across different scales.
How does the project process work from consultation to deployment?
Our process has five stages:
1. Consultation & Assessment: We collect your warehouse data (floor plans, SKU profiles, order volumes, peak patterns) and visit the site if needed. This is free and carries no obligation.
2. System Design: Our engineers produce a custom layout with 3D simulation, throughput modeling, and a detailed cost-benefit analysis.
3. Manufacturing & Configuration: Hardware is built in our own factory. Software is configured and tested against your order data in a simulated environment.
4. Installation & Commissioning: Our project team handles installation, system integration, and commissioning. We run parallel operations with your existing workflow to ensure zero downtime.
5. Training & Handover: Operators, supervisors, and maintenance staff receive hands-on training. We stay on-site until the system hits agreed performance targets.
Do you provide on-site installation and operator training?
Yes — installation and training are standard parts of every project, not optional add-ons. Our deployment team includes mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers, and a project manager who remain on-site throughout the installation and commissioning phase (typically 4–8 weeks depending on project scale).
Training covers three levels:
Operators: Daily system operation, pick station workflows, basic troubleshooting.
Supervisors: System monitoring, performance dashboards, exception handling.
Maintenance staff: Preventive maintenance procedures, component replacement, diagnostic tools.
We also provide training documentation and video materials in your local language where possible.
What after-sales support and maintenance do you offer?
Remote support (24/7): Our technical team can connect to your system remotely for real-time diagnostics, software updates, and troubleshooting. Most issues are resolved within 2–4 hours remotely.
On-site support: For hardware issues that cannot be resolved remotely, we dispatch engineers to your facility. We maintain service teams and spare parts inventory across 30+ countries.
Preventive maintenance: Scheduled maintenance visits (quarterly or semi-annually) to inspect robots, racking, charging systems, and software performance.
Spare parts: Critical spare parts are pre-positioned at your facility or at a nearby regional hub for fast replacement.
Software updates: Algorithm improvements, security patches, and feature updates are delivered as part of the support agreement at no additional cost.
